NEWEST BTS H&S ADVISOR LEADS SITE AUDIT

Amy Jones, BTS Group’s newest Health & Safety Advisor, led her first on-site audit this week.

Amy Jones, currently a Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) & Training Coordinator, will be covering the role of Health & Safety Advisor in Suffolk during Megan Holloway's maternity leave. Amy earned a NEBOSH Health & Safety at Work certification in December and this month passed the UA301 Basic Electrical Knowledge and Site Safety Awareness assessment.

Megan, who has been mentoring Amy for several weeks, supervised as Amy carried out the audit, which includes a thorough check on documentation and equipment, observing operatives (Nat and Aaron Hall) at work, and a conversation about safety in various areas of work.

The morning’s job involved a side prune and crown reduction on a sycamore, keeping it well clear of a power line – a task that helps ensure an uninterrupted energy supply in the area.

“It went really well,” Amy said. “I enjoyed it. The guys were very helpful and clearly knowledgeable in what they were doing.”

Amy has years of experience in GRC and training within BTS, making her a great fit for this position. BTS Group promotes and champions personal and professional development within its workforce.

“This is an exciting new challenge in my career,” Amy said. “It’s great to experience a new part of the business, going out to see our skilled arborists at work and learning on-site as well as in the office.”
